Pray With Us for Malawi
We invite you to partner with us in one of the most important parts of our mission—prayer. While there are many practical efforts happening on the ground in Malawi—feeding programs, building projects, student sponsorships, and leadership development—we believe that none of these efforts can bear lasting fruit without the covering and power of prayer.
Everything we do is bathed in prayer, and we are fully dependent on the Lord’s provision, wisdom, and timing for every project and relationship. We know that it is God alone who changes hearts, opens doors, and brings hope to communities.
As we continue to serve and build relationships in Malawi, we ask you to stand with us in prayer for these specific needs. Whether you pray once or commit to praying regularly, know that your prayers matter deeply and make a difference in the work God is doing both in Malawi and in us.
Spiritual Needs
The greatest need in Malawi is not food, clean water, or education—though those are incredibly important. The greatest need is Jesus.
While many of the people we met are kind, hospitable, and eager to receive us, there is still deep spiritual darkness in many villages and homes. Traditional beliefs, including witchcraft and ancestor worship, are still very much a part of the culture, and they keep many people bound by fear and deception.
We ask you to pray specifically:
That the hearts of the people of Malawi would be softened and opened to the truth of the Gospel.
That they would turn from spiritual darkness and come to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, the only true source of life, freedom, and hope.
That local pastors and church leaders would be strengthened, equipped, and protected as they shepherd their communities and proclaim the Good News.
That God would raise up new leaders and young believers who are passionate about sharing the Gospel in their own villages and beyond.
That spiritual strongholds would be broken in Jesus’ name, and that the light of Christ would shine brightly in every home, school, and village.
Please continue to pray that many more people here in the U.S. would hear this call and respond—not just to send or give, but to go, so they too can experience the joy of serving and loving the people of Malawi.
Children & Education
At the heart of our mission is the desire to see the next generation in Malawi not only survive but thrive—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Through student sponsorships, feeding programs, and educational partnerships, we are investing in future leaders who will one day shape their families, communities, and nation.
During our time in Malawi, we were blessed to spend meaningful, quality time with many of the students supported through Giving Basics. We visited their schools, homes, and villages, listened to their stories, and witnessed both their challenges and their potential. These children carry the weight of poverty, loss, and sometimes spiritual confusion—but they are also filled with incredible promise, created in the image of God, and deeply loved.
The School Feeding Programs are another vital part of this ministry, providing daily nourishment for children who might otherwise go without. These meals give students the strength to learn, the energy to engage, and the hope of knowing they are cared for.
Please pray:
For every sponsored student, that they would feel known, valued, and loved—not just by us, but by their Heavenly Father.
That these students would grow in their education and discover their God-given purpose for their lives.
For the School Feeding Programs to continue providing both physical nourishment and spiritual encouragement, pointing every child to Jesus.
For teachers, administrators, and school leaders who work hard with limited resources—pray for their strength, creativity, and perseverance.
For children and families impacted by trauma, poverty, and spiritual darkness—that they would find healing, hope, and freedom through the power of the Gospel.
Ministry Partners & Long-Term Impact
We are incredibly thankful for the faithful leaders and organizations God has raised up in Malawi—especially our trusted friends at Shine Malawi. While our team was able to visit for two weeks, they are there every single day, loving, serving, and carrying the weight of ministry in their own communities.
Our long-term impact depends on empowering and supporting these local leaders. They are the ones building lasting relationships, discipling new believers, and advocating for their people with local government officials and village leaders.
Please pray:
For Shine Malawi’s leadership team—Stalin, Josam, Chisomo, Priska, Mama Pili, Pilarini, Abraham, and Saka—that they would be filled with strength, courage, and wisdom as they lead on the ground.
- For the safety and reliability of the vehicles our partners use daily to travel rough roads, visit villages, and carry out ministry—pray that they would stay running, hold together, and continue to serve as tools to reach people with both help and hope.
For favor and trust with village leaders, school administrators, and government officials as they continue to build partnerships that open doors for long-term community transformation.
For spiritual encouragement for these leaders who often carry heavy emotional and spiritual burdens.
For the development of future local leaders who can multiply the work and expand the reach of the Gospel.
For wisdom and discernment as we work together to evaluate future projects and respond to the many needs we heard about from individuals, schools, and entire villages.
Together with Shine Malawi and other trusted partners, we believe that long-term relationships—not short-term fixes—will make the greatest impact for generations to come.
Active Projects & Community Needs
While relationships are at the heart of everything we do, we also recognize that meeting practical, everyday needs is a powerful way to build trust and open doors for meaningful ministry. Through sustainable projects like The Mill, The Resource Center, and The Promise Land, we are working alongside our partners to strengthen communities and show the love of Jesus in both word and action.
These projects provide tangible help—food security, job creation, education, and community development—but more importantly, they create platforms for relationships to grow deeper. One of the most impactful tools we have seen used again and again is the regular showing of the Jesus Film in villages, schools, and communities. This simple but powerful presentation of the life of Christ continues to open hearts and spark Gospel conversations long after our team leaves.
Every conversation, every shared meal, every project, and every film showing is an opportunity to point people to the hope found in Christ.
As these projects continue to grow and develop, we ask you to pray for the people involved, the challenges still ahead, and the opportunities they create to serve both physical and spiritual needs in the name of Jesus.
The Mill
Please pray:
Praise God for the successful installation and operation of the equipment.
For the quick arrival of the electric meter box so the team can transition from the loud, damaging diesel motor to reliable electricity.
For the health, safety, and well-being of the staff as they operate the mill.
That the mill would continue to serve as a bridge for relationship-building and Gospel conversations with everyone who visits.
The Shipping Container
Please pray:
For favor and breakthrough with customs officials so the container can be released quickly and without damage or loss.
For the safe arrival and effective use of every item inside to support the Resource Center and other community needs.
The Promise Land
Please pray:
For wisdom and discernment as plans are developed for how best to utilize this property for community blessing and outreach.
For the right resources, partnerships, and timing to move the vision forward in a way that honors God.
That the land would become a place of restoration, opportunity, and Gospel impact.
The Shine Bright Resource Center
We believe the Shine Bright Resource Center will be one of the most transformational tools for ministry in the community of Mzimba, Malawi. This newly acquired property is strategically located to serve as a hub of education, vocational training, community development, and Gospel outreach.
Once fully renovated and operational, the Resource Center will provide:
Tutoring and study spaces for students of all ages—from preschoolers to adults.
Trade and skills training in areas like sewing, welding, construction, and more—helping men and women build sustainable livelihoods.
Power and water access so students have a safe and functional environment to learn, study, and grow.
Community gathering spaces for sports, fellowship, small groups, and outreach events.
A dedicated area for showing Christian films, like the Jesus Film, to share the Gospel in clear and powerful ways.
This is more than just a building—it’s a platform for hope, a safe place for learning, and a launchpad for ministry that can impact individuals, families, and entire villages for generations to come.
While we’ve already purchased the property and shipped a container of essential supplies, there is still work to do. Renovations and expansion plans are underway, and our team is praying for God’s wisdom and provision to bring this vision to life.
How You Can Pray for the Resource Center
Pray for the vision of the Resource Center—that it would become a place where people experience real hope, practical help, and the life-changing message of Jesus.
Pray for favor with customs as we work to release the shipping container filled with supplies to begin furnishing and equipping the center.
Pray for wisdom and unity among our team and local partners as renovation and expansion plans move forward.
Pray for the leaders and volunteers who will serve there—ask God to encourage, strengthen, and equip them for long-term impact.
Pray that the Resource Center would become a beacon of light in Mzimba, meeting physical, educational, and spiritual needs for years to come.
